(Okay this isn’t really an ode but go along with it haha)
My favourite English teacher left yesterday to go on maternity leave. She was one of the most inspirational people in my life, especially when regarding feminism.
She taught me to value myself as a woman and to see the world through a different light-finding ways in which we can improve society for our sisters. Her absence has hurt me but has led to a big change in how I want to run this blog.
Although my platform is very small, I would like to use it for change. While writing about topics surrounding the literary community, I would also like to publish my essays where I analyse more political topics I’m passionate about. For example, the portrayal of women in media (and perhaps how that could relate to writing), LGBTQ+ rights, and the racism still interwoven into every day society.
I think it would not only be beneficial for me in developing my opinions into well rounded arguments, but also for anyone who would like to learn a little bit of extra information to take into debates.
I hope these changes will be well received by you all and I would love to hear your suggestions for topics!
